Letter from the President
Dear friends and colleagues, FNS members old and new,
I’m delighted to announce the launch of the new FNS website. For over a year our Secretary and Webmaster, Rebecca Bamford, has worked hard on setting this new website up with the generous help and support of the University of Minnesota Rochester. Our priority in designing the new site has been to construct a ‘living’ site that gives FNS members value for money. Next to the usual announcements of forthcoming events, books etc., our Blogmaster, Katrina Mitcheson, and Liaison Officers have networked extensively to obtain exclusive conference reports, interviews and other items for the site. But the site also incorporates a Research Forum, designed for the discussion of ongoing research among FNS members. A brief guide to the site is given below. This content is accessible to you as FNS members only as a new benefit of membership, next to the long-standing agreements of reduced fees for the JNS, for FNS conferences and other Nietzsche events (whenever possible). Our financial officer, Leo Westhead, has gone to great lengths to set up an easy payment system via PayPal, also accessible on the site, which enables members to pay their dues electronically. Since the financial straits of the FNS in the past had largely to do with the difficulty and irregularity of contribution-payments, we hope that this system will keep the Society in good financial health and enable us to take new initiatives, such as essay competitions, workshops etc.
